Love poems
I Gave Myself To Him
by Emily Dickinson
I gave myself to him
And took himself for pay.
The solemn contract of a life
Was ratified this way
The value might disappoint
Myself a poorer prove
Than this my purchaser suspect
The daily own of love.
Depreciates the sight
But, 'till the merchant buy,
Still fabled, in the isles of spice
The subtle cargoes lie.
At least, "'tis mutual risk"
(Some found it mutual gain)
Sweet debt of life -each night to owe,
Insolvent every noon!
Love, romance and relationship quotes for your soul
- 'I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for their religion - I have shudder'd at it. I shudder no more.
I could be martyr'd for my religion. Love is my religion.
And I could die for that. I could die for you.'
~ John Keats - 'The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is to love and be loved in return.'
~ From 'Unforgettable with Love' Natalie Cole - 'To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides.'
~ David Viscott
